SOLVENT-FREE PROCESS FOR OBTAINING PHOSPHOLIPIDS AND NEUTRAL ENRICHED KRILL OILS

The present invention relates to a processing layout for obtaining krill oil with poly-unsaturated fatty acid DHA and EPA in the phospholipids fraction, with astaxanthin, and neutral lipids, used for human health applications and a sub-product being a low fat content krill meal. This invention also discloses a procedure for obtaining a dried complex that contains krill oil in combination with phospholipids linked to DHA and EPA, proteins and astaxanthin for the use on human-health human applications.

This novel product, and highly demanded medical treatment, was developed by the late Tharos’ partner, Cornell University PhD Dr. Hector Covacevich, both in partnership through the company named Osteos21 Ltd, using krill meal as the main crustacean meal source.
