EFSA report approves Canadian Neptune Biotechnologies and Bioresources krill oil (NKOTM) as a Novel Food within the EU market. This was a work requested by the European Commission for the Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety of “Lipid Extract from Euphausia superba as a food ingredient”. The product under revision is krill oil extracted by a solvent (acetone) and later removed by other processing steps whereas the end product is branded as Neptune Krill Oil NKOÔ.
